YEAR OF YOUTH: The Australian Catholic Bishops have called us all to participate in a Year of Youth which commences this Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent. All parishioners are invited to pray for, encourage, and be inspired by our young parishioners. During this year there will be many particular opportunities for our young people: some this week will travel to Sydney to participate in the Catholic Youth Festival; others will be participating in the Summer School of Evangelisation in January; and all our young parishioners who will be in secondary college, university or TAFE or working, are invited to participate in our own St Thomas the Apostle Youth Festival on Saturday 20th January from 10.30am to 5.30pm, our parish second birthday. If you are Youth aged 14+ and are interested in being part of the drama team for the day, please contact Christine at the Parish Office 5998 0947.

AUSTRALIAN NATIVITY SCENE: ST ELIZABETH’S, DANDENONG NORTH Monday 11 December to Friday 12 January at St Elizabeth’s parish, 107 Baker Road, Dandenong North  Local artist Wilson Fernandez has been creating his stunning nativity scenes for the past thirteen years. This is regarded as one of Australia’s best nativity displays and is months in the making each year. It has steadily grown into the largest of its kind in Australia. Wilson artistically creates the village and township with handmade huts, stables, buildings, bridges, palaces, houses and temples surrounded by mountains, rocks, lakes and rivers. Each week the nativity scenes change to reflect the story of the birth of Christ. It features scenes starting with Mary and Joseph looking for a place to stay, finding only a stable free, the birth of Jesus, visits from the shepherds, the three kings and ends with the holy family fleeing to Egypt. This event is open to everyone (children to be accompanied by parent or guardian).  Cost: Free and open to all age groups Viewing times: After Mass and any other time by appointment Details: Wilson on 0428 927 110 or parish office on 9795 6217 Website: http://www.australiannativityscene.org/
